Florida Health Insurance
Individual & family health insurance across Florida
Witte Mortgage helps individuals, families, and self-employed Floridians shop health insurance plans on and off the ACA marketplace. Whether you missed open enrollment because of a qualifying life event, are aging off a parent's plan, left an employer, or simply want to compare on-exchange subsidies against off-exchange options — Peter walks you through carriers, networks, deductibles, and total annual cost side by side.
We work with major Florida carriers offering HMO, PPO, EPO, and POS plans across metal tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum), plus short-term medical, catastrophic, and supplemental coverage. If your household qualifies for premium tax credits or cost-sharing reductions under the ACA, we make sure you claim them.
What to compare when picking a Florida health plan
Monthly premium vs. subsidy
Your ACA subsidy depends on household income — the same plan can cost dramatically less after tax credits.
Deductible & out-of-pocket max
Low-premium plans usually mean higher deductibles. We model total cost for your actual expected usage.
Provider & hospital network
We check whether your doctors, specialists, and preferred Florida hospital systems are in-network before you enroll.
Prescription coverage
Formulary tiers matter. We verify your regular medications are covered at a price you can plan around.
HSA compatibility
High-deductible plans that pair with a Health Savings Account can offer real tax advantages for healthy households.
Special enrollment periods
Marriage, birth, job loss, and moves may qualify you to enroll outside open enrollment.
FAQs
Florida health insurance FAQs
When is open enrollment for Florida health insurance?+
Federal ACA open enrollment for Florida typically runs November 1 through January 15. Coverage effective January 1 requires enrollment by December 15. Special enrollment periods apply outside that window for qualifying life events.
Am I eligible for ACA subsidies?+
Most Florida households earning between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level qualify for premium tax credits, with expanded subsidies currently available above 400% for many households. We calculate your subsidy before you enroll.
I'm self-employed — what are my options?+
Self-employed Floridians can enroll in ACA marketplace plans (often with subsidies), off-exchange plans, health-sharing ministries, or short-term plans depending on situation and health status.
Can I keep my doctor?+
It depends on the plan's network. We check your providers against carrier networks before enrolling — this is one of the most common surprises we help clients avoid.
What if I miss open enrollment?+
You'll need a qualifying life event (loss of coverage, marriage, birth/adoption, move, etc.) to enroll. Short-term plans are also available year-round with different rules.
