Florida Group Benefits
Small business & group health insurance in Florida
Witte Mortgage helps Florida employers design, quote, and implement group health insurance and employee benefit packages. From two-person startups in Tampa to established employers in Miami, Orlando, and Jacksonville, we shop major carriers — including Florida Blue, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, and regional plans — to find coverage that fits your budget and your team.
We support fully-insured group plans, level-funded and self-funded arrangements, ICHRA and QSEHRA reimbursement models, and ancillary benefits like dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary products. Employers with 2–50 employees get particular attention — that's where a good broker changes both the price and the experience.
Group benefits done right
Multi-carrier quoting
Side-by-side quotes from Florida's major carriers — not a one-carrier pitch.
Level-funded options
Small groups can access self-funded-style savings with fixed monthly cost and potential year-end refunds.
ICHRA & QSEHRA
Reimburse employees for individual coverage with predictable, tax-advantaged contributions.
Renewal negotiations
We negotiate your renewal every year — not rubber-stamp it. Alternate carriers quoted proactively.
Ancillary bundling
Dental, vision, life, disability, accident, and critical illness bundled for better rates.
Employee education
Enrollment meetings, one-pagers, and Q&A support so your team understands what they have.
FAQs
Group health insurance FAQs
How many employees do I need to offer group health insurance in Florida?+
Most carriers require at least 2 enrolled employees (not counting owners' spouses). Florida also has small-group rules for 1–50 employee groups with guaranteed-issue coverage and standardized underwriting.
How much do employers typically contribute?+
Most carriers require employers to contribute at least 50% of the employee-only premium and enroll at least 70–75% of eligible employees. Contribution strategy is one of the levers we help you tune.
What is a level-funded plan?+
A hybrid between fully-insured and self-funded — you pay a fixed monthly amount that covers claims, admin, and stop-loss. If claims run below projection, you may get a refund at year-end.
Can I reimburse employees for their own insurance instead?+
Yes — ICHRA (for any size employer) and QSEHRA (for under 50 employees) let you make tax-free reimbursements toward individual plans. Great for remote or distributed teams.
When can I change my group plan?+
Most groups change at annual renewal, but off-cycle changes are possible in some cases. We start renewal shopping 60–90 days before your effective date.
